Specify the working pattern
For temporary production air, planned maintenance or a longer project, set out the hours of operation and the loads that run together. Include quiet periods as well as the busiest part of the shift. Ask for the proposed equipment’s suitability to be assessed against that pattern; the word screw does not establish a machine’s duty rating.
If an existing compressor is being replaced temporarily, supply its plate details alongside the actual process requirements. Explain whether the replacement will support the whole system or only selected equipment. This keeps the enquiry focused on the air the job needs.
Airflow, pressure and treatment
Give the airflow requirement and its units, plus the pressure required at the point of use. If those details are unavailable, list the tools or machinery and which operate simultaneously. Use the sizing guide to gather useful information without guessing a capacity.
Include any written requirements for drying, filtration or oil content. Identify the process those requirements apply to and the connection where they must be met. An equipment category alone does not confirm the air quality of the complete temporary installation.
Plan the connection and changeover
Describe the existing connection, hose route and intended position. Explain whether the main system will remain active during setup and who will coordinate isolation and reconnection. For a shutdown, give both the access window and the time air must be ready for use.
Send available power details, site access information and expected duration with the enquiry. Ask what equipment, air treatment and connection arrangements are included in the proposal. If the work is close to occupied areas, add the noise criteria rather than assuming the compressor type resolves them.
Useful details for your enquiry
- Load profile
- Tools or process, simultaneous use, shift length and changes in demand.
- Required air
- Airflow with units, working pressure and any documented air-quality criteria.
- Installation
- Connection point, available power, equipment position and changeover window.
Hire questions
Is every screw compressor suitable for continuous operation?
Do not assume so. Give the required operating pattern and ask for the proposed equipment’s duty and installation requirements to be confirmed for that job.
Does screw mean oil-free?
No. Screw compressors include oil-free and oil-injected designs. State the air-quality requirement for your process and ask how the complete proposed arrangement will meet it.
Can I enquire without knowing the airflow?
Yes. Describe the equipment that needs air, the pressure if known and what runs together. Technical fields in the form are optional; do not invent figures to complete the enquiry.
