Price the same air requirement
Ask each quotation to address the same delivered airflow at the working pressure, duty pattern and air-quality requirement. A larger headline CFM figure does not by itself explain whether the proposal fits the job. Specify the equipment that will run together and any documented treatment criteria.
Separate the compressor from the complete temporary installation. Ask whether drying, filtration, receivers, hoses, connections and setup are included where needed. These are quotation questions, not a promise that any particular package or accessory is available.
Make time and transport explicit
Give the intended start date, expected duration and any uncertainty about the end date. Ask how minimum periods, extensions, off-hire notice and collection affect the quoted total. Confirm the written terms rather than assuming that a daily figure can be multiplied into the final charge.
Describe the delivery entrance, equipment position and receiving arrangements. Ask for delivery, collection and any positioning work to be itemised. A site with a narrow access window needs that window discussed before transport is agreed; no local delivery time is implied by a location page.
Account for operating costs separately
For an electrical installation, use measured input and expected operating hours with your own tariff when estimating energy cost. Record loaded and unloaded operation separately if that information is available. Motor nameplate power alone is not a measured consumption record.
For a fuel-powered proposal, ask for the specified fuel and the responsibilities for supply and refuelling. Confirm how VAT, damage cover and any stated exclusions are treated. Compare the written totals and assumptions; neither this checklist nor an energy estimate is a hire quotation.

Hire questions
Can this guide give a daily price?
No. Send the application, dates and site details for a tailored quotation. No rate or minimum hire charge is assumed here.
Is electricity part of the hire price?
Ask what the quotation includes and who pays for operating energy. Use your own tariff and a measured electrical load for a separate energy estimate.
How do I compare two different proposals?
Check that both address the same pressure, delivered flow, duty and treatment. Then compare the included equipment, services, period and exclusions, and ask for differences to be explained.
